Switzerland Research Program In Technology And Science For Undergraduate Students 2011/2012
The Summer Research Program in Life Sciences and Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), will offer an intensive research training opportunity to 25 undergraduate students interested in research careers in life sciences. This program will run from July 4th to August 26th 2011. (Earlier or later arrivals and departures can be arranged on a case-by-case basis between individual group leaders and participating students, however the student must be present for the core 8 weeks of the program. Any additional charges incurred by the change of dates must be covered by the student and/or lab.).
Each participant will be required to submit a formal written report and present the results of their research at a student symposium held at the end of the program which provides an opportunity for participants to experience presenting their data to their peers and the scientific community at the EPFL.
Selection Criteria
The summer research fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis taking into consideration several criteria including the student’s academic record, personal statements and letters of recommendation.

All the participants are required to attend and participate in all scheduled events and activities related to the program. Therefore, participants may not attend another summer school or commit to other activities during the duration of this program that could interfere with their work schedule

Fellowship Description: The Institute of Mathematics at University of Zurich and the Department of Mathematics at ETH Zurich invite applications for doctoral and postdoctoral positions with focus on areas in mathematical finance and actuarial mathematics (A. The Vienna PhD School of Informatics involves an intense period of supervised study and research, culminating in the submission of a thesis. The duration of the PhD School is three years. The degree is awarded to candidates who, through original investigation, make a distinct and significant contribution to knowledge in their field of specialisation. The PhD-School’s curriculum covers the main research areas of the Faculty of Informatics. In addition, it may also imply cooperation with other TU Vienna faculties. The school is designed to facilitate the integration of industry, either by defining joint research issues, by offering workplaces (with well-defined research related tasks) during summer breaks, or by sponsoring.
