Taiwan Government Scholarships for International Students

Brief description:
The Taiwan Government through the Ministry of Education (MOE) offers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD  scholarships for international students who wants to study in Taiwan Colleges and Universities through the Taiwan Scholarship Program.
The program aims to encourage outstanding international students (excluding students from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau) to undertake degree studies in Taiwan so as to familiarize themselves with the academic environment in Taiwan and promote communication, understanding and friendship between Taiwan and countries around the world.

Field of study:
The scholarships cover a wide range of disciplines offered by Taiwan Universities and Colleges.

Target Group:
The scholarships are targeted to international students from Africa, Asia, South America, Europe, USA and the rest of the world.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

(i) Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fee.

Upon validation of tuition and above fees, the MOE awards each recipient per semester up to NTD40,000. If the total amount of these fees should exceed NTD40,000, the remainder of all costs shall be covered by either the recipient, or the recipient’s college, whereas over NTD40,000 are the sole responsibility of the recipient. Tuition and academic fees do not include any of the following: administration fees, thesis advising fees, insurance premiums, accommodation, Internet access, all of which are payable by the recipients.

(ii) Subsistence allowance

The MOE offers each recipient undertaking undergraduate studies a monthly stipend of NTD15,000; it offers each recipient undertaking postgraduate studies a monthly stipend of NTD20,000.
The maximum period of each scholarship is four years for undergraduate programs, two years for master programs, and four years for doctorate programs. The maximum length of the total awards for each recipient undertaking a combination of studies is five years.

Eligibility:

(i) Applicants must be a foreign national with a high-school diploma or post-secondary degree(s), with an excellent academic record, and be of good moral character.

(ii) Applicants are ineligible if they meet the following criteria:

1. Are R.O.C. nationals or overseas Chinese students
2. Are already registered or have obtained student status at any university/college in Taiwan. Graduating students pursuing further studies are exempt from this rule.
3. Have already studied in Taiwan for the same level of degree as the one in which they currently intend to enroll.
4. Are exchange or dual/joint degree students admitted in accordance with academic cooperation agreements between local universities/colleges and international universities/colleges.
5. Have been a recipient of the Taiwan Scholarship for over a total of five years.
6. Have had, in the past, their Taiwan Scholarship or Huayu Enrichment Scholarship from the MOE revoked.
7. Are recipients of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan government or education institutions in Taiwan. This excludes subsidies offered by universities/colleges to cover tuition and other fees exceeding the scholarship limit.

(iii) Applicants should apply directly for admission within the deadlines specified by each university/college listed in the “Association of Taiwan Scholarship Program Schools” (see Appendix 1). Applications for admission outside of the universities/colleges participating in the Taiwan Scholarship Program are automatically disqualified and will not be returned.

Application instructions:
Scholarship applicants should apply directly for admission to Taiwan universities and colleges of their choice within their specified application deadlines.
For the application process, guidelines and forms, types of scholarship and quotas, selection criteria and deadlines, applicants should directly contact the relevant Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office, as early as possible or by 31 January each year.

To apply for the scholarship, the applicant must send all completed documents to the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office in his/her home country.  In principle, the yearly application period is from 1 February through 31 March. However, the actual application period will be in accordance with the general regulations of the local Taiwan Representative Offices.

These scholarships allow for study or research in any field of arts and sciences during the granted period at an accredited public Croatian higher education or research institution to be determined in advance.
Cases of non-eligibility
  • Foreign citizens with a residence permit or in the course of applying for a residence permit in Croatia cannot apply;
  • Students applying for part-time study programmes cannot apply;
  • Students applying for non state-financed universities cannot apply.
Age limits for applicants
  • 25 years for scholarships for undergraduate / graduate studies;
  • 35 years for scholarships for postgraduate studies;
  • 45 years for postdoctoral scholarships.
There are no age limits for the following types of scholarships:
  • research visit
  • summer courses

UQ International offers a limited number of scholarship opportunities for outstanding international students intending to study in an undergraduate program at The University of Queensland (UQ). To be eligible for a UQ International scholarship, you must be a newly commencing international student and able to study in Australia on a student visa.
Eligibility:
  1. Must have a score that equates to a Queensland Tertiary Education rank of 96. See below for international equivalencies table.
  2. Must not be recipients of another scholarship
  3. Must be applying for the full program – not an articulation or requesting credit (other than the IB credit)

Conditions:
The scholarship is a one-off reduction in your commencing tuition fees to the value of AUD$6000. The scholarships are available for international students who have completed senior high school overseas equivalent to Queensland Year 12 (eg. GCE A Levels, International Baccalaureate, etc).
The scholarship is not available to students who have already commenced a postsecondary qualification or who are already studying in Australia.
The successful applicants must be classed as an international student in Australia (Australian permanent residents and Australian citizens are not eligible). The successful application must commence study in the Semester indicated in the offer letter. The scholarship is intended for newly commencing students and is not available for students who have already commenced in studies at The University of Queensland.
Obligations of Students:
  • Students are expected to fulfil all requirements associated with their student visas.

The awards are made by individual Schools of Study in the University. All international students (outside the European Union) are considered for a scholarship of between 10% and 50% of tuition fees. In order to be considered for a UEA scholarship you do not need to make a separate application. Please indicate on your application for admission that you wish to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarship Description:The Kit Faragher Memorial Scholarship was established by the Janus Foundation in 2002 to honor the memory of their valued employee, Kathleen “Kit” Faragher who lost her life in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The Kit Faragher Foundation was created in 2003 to honor her memory and has continued to award this annual scholarship.

This scholarship supports Colorado high school students who have earned a high school GPA of 2.5, are in need of financial assistance for college, university, or technical school, and who capture Kit’s essence by demonstrating a positive attitude, strong commitment, and a drive towards accomplishment. Scholarship money may be used for tuition, books, lab fees, or other costs directly related to the degree program. The scholarship recipient will receive an award of $2,500 for two years, for a total of $5,000. The scholarship payments will be made directly to the school on the student’s behalf at the start of each semester/quarter for the first two years. In order to maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout the first two years of the educational program.

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION

Established in 1998 from a generous bequest by Jane M. Klausman, a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York USA, and the 1990-1995 Zonta International Parliamentarian, the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship is awarded annually to women pursuing undergraduate or Master’s degrees in business management.

The program operates at the Zonta club, district and international levels. Zonta clubs provide awards for club recipients. Zonta International awards scholarships of US$1,000 each at the district level and twelve international scholarships in the amount of US$5,000 each. The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are awarded annually and may be used for tuition, books or living expenses at any university, college or institution offering accredited business courses and degrees.

ELIGIBILITY

Women pursuing a business or business-related degree who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field are eligible.  Online students are also eligible.  Members and employees of Zonta International or the Zonta International Foundation are not eligible to apply for the Scholarships.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship program operates at the club, district and international levels of Zonta International. To apply, please contact the Zonta club nearest you.  Applicants must be nominated by a local Zonta club. Applications selected by Zonta clubs are sent to their respective Zonta governors. A district evaluating committee selects one applicant per district to submit to Zonta International Headquarters.  The Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship Committee selects twelve international recipients from the district applicants.  Applications for the 2011 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are now available.

DEADLINE

Applications must be completed and presented to Zonta clubs according to the club’s assigned deadline. A club recipient is selected, and the application is presented to the governor by 1 July 2011. The district recipient is selected, and the application is presented to Zonta International Headquarters by 1 September 2011. International recipients will be contacted by their Zonta club leader by mid October 2011.

FUNDING SUPPORT

Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are made possible through investment income generated by the Klausman bequest, and by generous contributions from Zontians, Zonta clubs and friends of Zonta.

The Government of the Republic of Turkey to provide 70 (seventy) package Scholarships for Indonesian Students and Students for Academic Year 2011-2012 to study at the University-State University in Turkey with the following composition:
1. 20 packages – Turkish Language Course, the deadline for submitting applications: 10 April 2011

2. 30 packets – Program S1 (Bachelor), the deadline for submission of applications: June 1, 2011

Scholarship packages that are borne by the Government of Turkey include:

Instructions for choice University, please search via Google, with the keyword: “List of State Universities in Turkey”. (Make sure you choose a university because it is the State University Private Universities do not give scholarships)

1. For applicants to the Turkish Language Course Program: select STATE UNIVERSITY, only in the city: Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Antalya, Samsun and Trabzon)
2. For applicants for the program, S1, S2, and S3: majors are free (except Medicine), STATE UNIVERSITY-free choice in all cities in Turkey (Example of filling the application forms for university choice: the name of university: ANKARA UNIVERSITY; the name of faculty or institute : SOCIAL SCIENCE; Department – Main Branch of Science of the Faculty or Institute: INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS), plus 2 other options as desired. This is only an example, a choice of 3 faculty and State University is listed in the application form, depending on the applicant’s choice.

Understand the general requirements carefully attached. Applications that are incomplete and / or late receipt by the Embassy after the deadline specified above, will not be processed.

Bagi lulusan SMA dan MAN dengan nilai baik selama di SMTA dan juga nilai ujian akhir yang baik pula, tetapi kurang beruntung dalam ekonomi untuk biaya perkuliahan, UAI akan memberikan beasiswa penuh (Bebas BPP + BOP dan SKS) selama prestasi yang bersangkutan di UAI memperoleh IP minimal 3,25, jika IP < 3,25 maka mahasiswa yang bersangkutan diharuskan membayar sebagian BOP dan SKS seluruhnya (sesuai tabel), tetapi bila IP yang bersangkutan &#8805; 3,25 kembali; maka biaya kuliah yang bersangkutan kembali bebas.

I. Syarat Calon Penerima Beasiswa Korporat
Tamatan SMA / Aliyah atau sederajat, tahun ajaran 2010 atau 20011.
Mempunyai nilai rata-rata raport kelas I, II dan III minimal 80,00 untuk jurusan:
IPA : Mata pelajaran Matematika, Fisika, Kimia, Biologi dan Bahasa Inggris.
IPS : Mata pelajaran Matematika dan Bahasa Inggris.

II. Syarat Pengajuan Calon Penerima Beasiswa Korporat
Mengisi formulir beasiswa korporat (telah disediakan Panitia, bisa diperbanyak atau download di sini
Melampirkan fotocopi ijazah yang telah dilegalisir oleh kepala Sekolah
Melampirkan foto copy rapor kelas I, II dan III yang telah dilegalisir oleh Kepala Sekolah
Melampirkan foto copy nilai UN (Ujian Nasional) yang telah dilegalisir oleh Kepala Sekolah (dapat menyusul)
Melampirkan pas foto terbaru (berwarna) ukuran 3x4 dan 2x3 sebanyak 2 (dua) lembar
Membuat essay pribadi (Alasan memilih Program Studi di UAI dan tujuan setelah selesai kuliah) maksimal 2 halaman

III. Biaya yang Dikeluarkan Penerima Beasiswa Korporat
Mahasiswa Penerima Beasiswa Korporat berkewajiban menyelesaikan: Biaya registrasi , Biaya jaket mahasiswa & OSMA, Biaya Buku Perpustakaan, Biaya Pembuatan KTM & ATM BSM dan Matrikulasi Bahasa Inggris.

IV. Lama Pemberian Beasiswa Korporat
Beasiswa ini berlaku untuk 8 (delapan) semester.
Mahasiswa Penerima Beasiswa Korporat berkewajiban mempertahankan Indeks Prestasi Semester (IPS): minimal 3,00 setiap semester untuk prgram studi Ilmu sains dan Indeks Prestasi Semester (IPS): minimal 3,25 untuk program studi ilmu Humaniora.

Your application should consist of the following:

1. Your piece of work (either in German or English) in both digital form (CD/DVD) and hard copy.
2. A brief summary of your work (ca. one page).
3. A covering letter where you also state your estimated graduation date.
4. Curriculum Vitae (including information on traineeship, work abroad etc.) and a summary of your interim study marks and results.
5. Written confirmation from your university that you are registered on an appropriate Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree program.
6. Recommendation letter of your tutor/professor would be helpful.

  • Applicants studying for a first degree (degree: Bachelor, State Examination or Diploma) can apply for a scholarship before their studies begin; applications are possible within the first three semesters at the time of application.
  • Applicants studying in a Master’s programme can apply for a scholarship before their studies begin; applications are possible within the first semester of the Master’s programme at the time of application.
  • Funding priority is given to subjects within the areas of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Engineering with a focus on sustainability and environmental and energy issues.
  • For applications from EU countries: The regional focus is on Central and Eastern Europe.
Doctoral students coming from Germany and EU countries
  • Applicants should provide proof that they have been accepted as a doctoral student by a German institution of higher education.
  • For applications from EU countries: The regional focus is on Central and Eastern Europe.
