Responsibilities

Conduct basic/translational cancer research. Particularly interested in the role of the cytoskeletal architecture in normal and breast cancer cell biology. There is a critical need in defining the relationships between cellular architecture and tumor cell function since changes in cell shape and/or the microenivironment can alter essential cellular behaviors including proliferation an dmigration. We use cell culture and mouse models, and employ high resolution microscopy (confocal, TIRF), retroviral/lentiviral transduction, RNA interference, and cell biology and proteomic approaches. He/she will be expected to (1) develop independence in the design and performance of experiments and data analysis, (2) prepare manuscripts, (3) attend scientific meetings, (4) collaborate in the training of new laboratory personnel, and (5) prepare/submit proposals to compete for intramural/extramural funding. We have facilities and resources for tissue culture, molecular biology and proteomics, state-of-the-art flow cytometry and microscopy facilities. Other duties as required.
May assists in ensuring availability of proper laboratory supplies and procures supplies as necessary.

Prefer candidate to be highly motivated who can demonstrate records of accomplishments. Prefer candidate received PhD, DVM or MD within the last 5 years. Experience in signal transduction and microscopy is highly desirable. Publication record in peer-reviewed journals (English language) will be a significant determinant of candidacy.

Texas A&M University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer committed to diversity.

From humble beginnings in 1876 as Texas' first public institution of higher learning, to a bustling 5,000-acre campus with a nationally recognized faculty, Texas A&M University is one of a select few universities with land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant designations. With an enrollment of about half men and half women, 25 percent of the freshman class are the first in their family to attend college. Here, 38,000-plus undergraduates and more than 9,000 graduate students have access to world-class research programs and award-winning faculty. Texas A&M has two branch campuses, one in Galveston, Texas, and one in the Middle Eastern country of Qatar.

This research-intensive flagship university with 10 colleges was recently ranked first in the nation by The Washington Monthly for "tangible contributions to the public interest." U.S. News and World Report ranked Texas A&M third nationally as a "best value" among public universities. Many degree programs are ranked among the top 10 in the country.
