VLIR-UOS awards scholarships to students from developing countries so that they can follow a master or training programme in Flanders, Belgium. For 2011, VLIR-UOS awards 180 scholarships to first-year master students and 70 scholarships to training participants.

Who can apply for a scholarship?You can apply for a scholarship if you meet the following requisites: 
  • You are a resident and a national from one of the developing countries on the country list. 
  • You are not older than 40 years if you apply for a scholarship to follow a master programme. Or you are not older than 45 years if you apply for a scholarship to follow a training programme.  
  • You meet the academic admission requirements. You have the required English proficiency. (Read more)

For which programme can I apply?
Only the training or master programmes listed on this website are eligible for funding. All the programmes are organised at a Belgian Dutch speaking university, but taught in English. The master programmes last one or two academic years. The training programmes last one to four months. (Read more)

What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship covers all related expenses (full cost). (Read more)

When does the programme take place?
Training programmes take place in 2011. The one year master programmes start in September 2011 and end in June 2012. The two year master programmes start in September 2011 and end in June 2013. (Read more)
