Scholarship Description: 15 Post Graduate Scholarships- PhD 2 years, renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding
Funding: Scholarship of R140 000 per annum including a nominal contribution to laboratory costs and travel.
Student must register for full time study at UCT. Funding can be requested for 2 years, in Years 1 & 2 or Years 3 & 4. 4th year PhD students will be eligible for 1 year of funding. Candidates may take up part time employment – maximum 15 hours/week but may not hold scholarships and full time salaries concurrently. The successful incumbent must be prepared to comply with UCT’s approved policies, procedures and practices for the postgraduate sector.
UCT reserves the right to cancel, withdraw and recover any funds paid out to award holders who do not comply with Conditions of Award.
5 Post Doctoral Fellowships
2 years, renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding
Funding: Fellowship of R240 000 per annum including a nominal contribution to laboratory costs and travel.
UCT will apply to SARS for tax exemption on behalf of the fellow.
Candidate should be within 5 years of graduating with a PhD and should not have held prior permanent professional academic positions.
The successful incumbent must be prepared to comply with UCT’s approved policies, procedures and practices for the postdoctoral sector.
