NCTU International Scholarship
NCTU International Scholarships are available to international students with excellent academic and research records. Selected students may be awarded a monthly stipend and/or exemption from tuition and miscellaneous fees.
A. Eligibility: Outstanding new students entering degree programs at NCTU.
B. Amount:
(1) Undergraduate students: NT$7,000 per month and/or waiver of tuition and fees.
(2) Masters students: NT$10,000 per month and/or waiver/reduction of tuition and fees.
(3) Doctoral students: NT$15,000 per month and/or waiver/reduction of tuition and fees.
C. Duration: 6 months in the first semester (12 months thereafter).
D. Renewal: At the end of the first semester, students may apply for NCTU International Scholarships for current students which offer monthly stipends (NT$10,000/13,000/20,000 for bachelors/masters/doctoral students) and/or waiver/reduction of tuition and fees. The scholarships for current students are awarded for 12 months on a yearly basis by review and subject to a maximum number of years.

ITRI Outstanding International Student Scholarship Program

This program is a joint project by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) which aims to encourage outstanding international graduate students to study in Taiwan and facilitate industrial-academic cooperation.
A. Eligibility: Outstanding graduate students entering a graduate degree at NCTU.
B. Amount: NT$360,000 per year.
C. Duration:
(1) Masters students: 2 years maximum
(2) Doctoral students: 4 years maximum
D. Renewal: Scholarship recipients’ academic performance will be reviewed by the Academic Committee before the end of each academic year to endorse a continuous support for the following year.
E. Obligations of Scholarship Recipients:
Obtain a master’s or doctoral degree within the term of the program
Take an internship during summer vacations at ITRI before completing his/her program
Serve at ITRI for a maximum three years after graduation

The National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) in Taiwan provides an environment for students to work in the advanced research facility as well as to experience the campus life in the renowned National Chiao Tung University (NCTU). Successful candidates will be granted a diploma from NCTU, with the thesis simultaneously advised by a research scientist in NSRRC and a faculty in the university in the field of “Science and Technology of Advanced Light Source”.
A. Eligibility: Outstanding international masters students entering a doctoral degree at NCTU in the field of “Science and Technology of Accelerator Light Source.”
B. Amount: NT$32,000 per month.
C. Duration: 3 years.
D. Renewal: The PhD thesis must relate to the field of “Science and Technology of Advanced Light Source.” Performance will be reviewed by the Academic Committee before the end of each academic year to endorse a continuous support for the following year. If the thesis requires more than three years of work, the fellows are eligible to apply for the NSRRC PhD Candidate Fellowship with a monthly stipend of NT$38,000 provided that he or she has passed the qualifying examination.
E. Remarks: Holders of a PhD degree are not eligible for the program.

A. Application
The applicant should apply for admission with NCTU.
A scholarship application, along with a duplicate of the admission materials, should be mailed to the NSRRC. Please indicate “Duplicated for NSRRC use” on the university application form.
B. Review
NSRRC admission committee will review the applications and inform NCTU of the selected applicants. Once accepted by both the NSRRC and the chosen university, the student will be given the title as the NSRRC International Fellow. The student will be awarded the scholarship for the period of one year. The Academic Committee will review the scholarship recipients’ scholarship eligibility of the following year based on the recipients’ annual academic performance.

The Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) is a PhD program established in 2002 by Academia Sinica, the foremost research institution of Taiwan. In collaboration with top universities in Taiwan, Academia Sinica offers advanced, inter-disciplinary PhD Programs in nine fields that span the natural and physical sciences, as well as computational linguistics The program on offer from NCTU is Bioinformatics (http://tigpbp.iis.sinica.edu.tw/). TIGP students will learn in an all-English teaching and research environments, benefit from the instruction of world-class faculty and have access to state-of-the-art research facilities at Academia Sinica and partner universities.
A. Eligibility: All applicants who are admitted to TIGP.
B. Amount: NT$32,000 per month.
C. Duration: Up to 3 years
D. Renewal:
The first year is guaranteed whereas the amount of the stipend for the second and third years will depend on student’s performance.
