Hull York Medical School PhD Research Scholarships 2011 for International Students

To celebrate the University’s research successes, the University is offering 30 full-time PhD scholarships to UK and EU students, and 30 international fee bursaries to overseas students.

Applications are sought from suitably-qualified people wishing to pursue research leading to PhD status under the supervision of leading researchers.

Applicants will be expected to hold a minimum of a UK upper second class Honours degree, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline.

PhD students at the University of Hull follow modules for research and transferable skills development and gain a Masters level Certificate, or Diploma, in Research Training, in addition to their research degree.

Studentships can only be awarded in areas where the University’s academic staff members have the expertise to supervise your proposed project.

You will need to submit a research proposal with your application form.

  • Development of a multibody dynamics model of the mouse masticatory system
  • Role of the Ras-related GTPase RhoBTB3 in haemostasis and thrombosis
  • In vitro modelling of the impact of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and the metabolic syndrome on conception
  • Fingerprinting of BNP Metabolites for Cardioprotection

The research programmes will be integrated with training in accordance with Research Council specifications and accredited to the level of additional qualifications (Postgraduate Masters level Certificate and Diploma in Research Training). Successful applicants will become members of the Graduate School and the vibrant research community, supported by its modern study facilities and developmental activities.

Each full-time UK/EU PhD scholarship will include fees at the ‘home/EU’ student rate and maintenance (£13,590 in 2011/12, subject to final confirmation) for three years, depending on satisfactory progress. Funding for conference attendance will also be available.

The international fee bursaries will cover full tuition fees for full-time overseas students for three years, depending on satisfactory progress.
